Dispatch Call 4.28.22

today 2.5 and 3 a mile i've been seeing that lately.

Before you jump and just accept a client, do proper vetting. all money ain't good money.

sometimes these carriers are not on point. a lot of them don't run their business...

overhead is out the roof, they don't know their numbers.

I'm not going to be able to train the whole world. if carrier didn't go through the portal, idk what to tell you. receipts: triumph business capital, our factoring company. flying out to Texas tonight. vp  of the company is flying him out for meeting because they have done their numbers, the 100s of companies i referred from the portal are the highest and longest running companies in their network.  They want to train more of their clients.

We got enough students. do yourself and carriers a favor. help them tighten up their numbers. right financing deals so the numbers are not too high, so they are not panicking. biggest factoring company. lets make sure we are vetting the carriers probably. how much you bought trucks for? find out as much as you can, foundation of their company like. are they getting trucks fixed immediately? driver is saying they are having problems getting fuel, its sign that they are

All my clients come from complete trucking portal. i only dispatch trucks in my complete trucking portal. one person drop out of the dispatch service. I'm not saying that to show off, when you have the right carriers. I'm firm 10 percent, 7 years now. every 30 day period, in case rates go back up.

Time like this, where people got their education, take their craft seriously can show off. small miles.

Q: how to prevent clients from jumping ship?

I had a client leave because he wants to dispatch his own trucks. he only had 2 trucks.  if he has time, no other business, I'm not mad.

lower weight freight, less gas. find fuel stations ahead of time. from origin to the destination. be proactive in that sense.

educate your carrier. we discuss the business side but the mindset.

How you operate in the high season, determines how you survive when it slows up. example:

uhaul to bring engine to the truck, it costs 17k. money management. stack your bread, put your money away.

2017, people left the business. they left then last year and the half happened. they watched 5 a mile. kicking themselves in the behind. dont be that person, don't give up. THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF HAVE BEEN GREAT RATES...WOW... OPPORTUNITY COSTS AURIS.

Q: information on compliance.

ELD is main compliance piece you want to stay on. don't step on rolls of fleet owners. there are roles that fleet owners need to be on point with. You should have access to these ELD make sure they have enough time to complete the trip.

The pre trip should show up. make sure drivers do a pre trip.

Be proactive in looking at this information up as well. Best resource that you can possibly find.

The Motor Carrier Safety Planner (dot.gov)

- That's the site has all the information you need on that.

Q: how to trip plan for 2 days?

Add half an hour for error. driver will be able to make pick up time. also add 3 hours for loaded time.

If long trip, like 9-10 hours. wait until that's loaded.

If short trip, leave that room for error. window for delivery that is feasible. make sure i communicate with that driver and he's on track.

ROB: know the drivers that are on time, and some that are late. those type i never book 2 loads in advance with them. but the ones who always get on time, you can book in advance.

ALIX: Come on,

Book 24 hour shippers and 24 hour receivers if you have drivers that are late. If you are humble, they will work with you. you will be surprised. Takes pressure off you as dispatcher.

A: you've been with me for 4 years. you've seen the slow downs. how are you doing?

we've seen it before. keep miles short. keep prices high as possible. 100-300 mile runs. we're gonna get it. sometimes 2 run in a day. if you got a good driver. 100 mile run, deliver pick up. then 200 mile run next day and keep it going.

A: why you still have same drivers?

They saw the good times, when its good its good. they know what I can do. they know this is the slow period. this is what we prepare for. I got something good here.

Rob: credit, and lending. But you still need your new capital. Have no capital left behind. one break from being out of business.

Alix: You refer them to the complete trucking portal, doesnt mean that we're going to take those clients from you.

steps to onboard:

ROB:

1. have to have the number already activated.

2. Dat, Truckstop second.

3. service agreement between you and the carrier. charge deposit. certificate of authority, signed w-9 with authority information, and _____. plus service agreement and deposit. agree on start date. if truck investor, they own trucks. speak to the driver, everyone on the same page.

one more conversation with the driver, going to northeast, inclement weather, keep those notes with that carrier profile so you don't send them to wrong places

Q: w-9

W-9 is for the company. not individuals. brokers will need them for owner ops or fleet owners

Lawrence:

dispatching- no liability here. broker- a lot of cold calling. august 2020 started. being with you since. problems i had was, i had 4,5 then 9 trucks. lost them all. key thing is,  every truck is not a good truck. they need to know how to manage everything.

**I use trainual to to train them myself***

Lawrence; caught covid then went back to school. she taught me one thing about going to florida. wtere you send truck down to Tallahassee or miami, to get out, have them find a load within that state from one city to the next. the high is high as hell. 4 to 5 a mile. i'll be like doing a triangle. from miami to orlando, then from orlando, then send them wherever.

Alix: pref orlando then atlanta. we've done that but that not there all the time.

Cornelius: we got box truck, you said not to do. things have been working out. on the road for 3 weeks. when it comes to factoring, we dont have access to the factoring information.. to put their mc #. we booked a load and they owe us 1600 dollars. how do we find out if the brokers will pay you?

if you partner with OTR capital, you will always have access to your login  or use brokercheck.com. checks on DAT load board are partnered by OTR, you dont have to run broker check when its dat. if they have triumph don't go by those check marks. if they're doing triumph quick pay, they have to be partner with triumph quick pay... run by checkmark on dat. if takes longer than 30 days i wouldnt book them. if no blue check on dat board, don't book it. or do the credit check.

Evette- am I wrong for denying one truck people? they have too much time and they looking at everything you do.

Alix: don't turn them one with one truck.  you just got a bad apple. You are one connection from a whole connection right now.

Evette: i only need to find you one load and that's it,

Rob: kick rocks. we are not a temp service. (those are the people that don't pay)

Alix: interview process, you taking the first yes. They will have you stressed out. you can tell the energy, cockiness, they think they know everything. you can sense they'll be a problem.

Rob was running Audi dealership in Brooklyn, had people under him. He had experience with people and training people under him.

TESTIMONY:

TOOK DISPATCHING COURSE.  walked away from 6 figure job in train. hotshot, doing 9k to 11k a week. he already had truck but now was missing strategy. strategy before

specialize in something before you are considered special. 10k. we do only oversize loads. my girl, she just quit her job.

That's with 2 trucks of his own, and 3 he dispatches for.

THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WILL BE THE BEST OF YOUR LIFE.

Q: running into issues with drivers not wanting to go anywhere due to gas. causing a lot of stress. this is good load, they don't want to go here. get ir dof them? or we're not a good fit.

Alix: create carrier packet for each one. visible to you as you are booking loads. let's find out where they want to go ahead of time. Look at the markets, only running on these states.

do ghost route, if numbers dont make sense for them and for you, then they may not be for you. imagine if tighten even for 53 foot imagine what its like for box truck and sprinter van. choose your battle wisely.  find carriers that are good for you.

Charles: 14 and 24 footer with box truck. scraping with chickens, not flying with the eagles. moved to Missouri. april 1st got course. 20-25 brokers i worked with, started relationships. which angle to do/

No double brokering. same process, carrier packet, book that load and mc number, has to be same mc number on that contract. if you dont take that extra step. you'll have company put on a carrier 411, it'll hurt them. each carrier onboarded to that shipper before you book a load for them.

BOSS MAN: He is looking for carrier to lease under him. and she's promoting it on her social media. she's learning the dispatching. its complete trucking portal.

Melissa:

average 3 a mile. i work 24/7. spoiled last year and a half. time where things got inflated.

calling and going to manufacturing. cutting around brokers to get these dedicated lanes. you can create a dedicated line for your carriers. very persistant.. landed 2k lane from NJ to VA. covered in the course. go back, old rate cons. go back to them.

300 direct shippers list. start local. 3k direct shippers there. call. 1k for 700 miles. have to have the twit card. 18 slots in the edison Nj course. keep calling and pounding them. its freight out there. dont trip on the load board.

Alix: we got a broker course. broker game is different game, you gotta be a people person. convince shippers to trust you to allow your fleet of trucking to move their freight. so many ways to skin a cat. find out what works for your personality type. connect on freight broker course. thats my advice.
