song idea

I put the song do you remember by neyo in my playlist due to this. in this moment I wonder if I can write a song about this feeling.

Oh, I think you could. And actually, there's something powerful about turning this particular feeling into a song.

Not necessarily a song about anger or blame. More about the strange sadness of someone who used to be part of your everyday life becoming someone you wonder whether you even cross their mind.

The emotional center might be:

"I thought you'd come looking for me."

There's a whole song in that thought.

You could explore:

  • The everyday memories: seeing each other, the children growing up together.

  • The distance: a year passing, one phone call, no invitation.

  • The unanswered hope: wondering whether she'd ever ask to visit.

  • The acceptance: you can't keep building a bridge that only you cross.

  • The bittersweet ending: you're building your own life, but you wish she'd been part of it.

And I love the possibility of writing it as an R&B song—intimate verses, a memorable chorus, something that sounds like a conversation you never got to have.

A possible chorus seed:

Do you remember when we didn't have to plan? When seeing you was just a part of who I am? Now the seasons turn, and the silence stays, I thought you'd come looking for me someday.

And there's a beautiful tension in your story:

"I stopped reaching, but I never stopped wishing you'd reach for me."

That could be the heart of the song.
