Q from me: Can you talk about what jobs are available after getting these certifications?

The jobs go according to your background. Some change carrers, now they want to do this. I have one student. Lsat day of class, last week thursday he had a job interview. he told me that he got his job. he started working. he's working right now. 

Network administrator is a first person that connects the computer, manage the network, monitors the network. for security threats or viruses. You know those guys that work in best buy? They used to just work on individual computers. One part. 

You take one computer, take it apart, put a new memory in. Or take a different hardrive in.

Most jobs are network administrator. Gone are the days that you do just one thing and that's it. 

Now you are going to be managing networks. That's what these guys do. NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR.

HELP DESK- is me calling you and saying my document here is not responding. I have to log in, and then you can check my computer from where you are. so, my point is also. Someone that works in IT, they share different responsibilities. they wear different hats. Not just one thing and that's it. 

That's why we combine it in this class with A+. working with one computer. taking it apart, hardrive, cables. 

Network plus is connecting computers. you know where your router is. your router might be optimum or whoever. you have extenders. You are in a way, managing a network at home. You have a wireless network. 

What is troubleshooting? Look up toolbar and Google Sheet (I think I know this technology)

When you are trying to fix a computer. Go online, find some answers. i have done that too.

RAM- that is memory.

Teacher: We all have a different domain. Comp TIA has an old system. The pictures are from technology from 3 years ago. we have to learn to pass the test.  BE FLEXIBLE. THIS IS FOUNDATIONAL KNOWLEDGE. Something we can build on. 

Memory is not the same as storage. memory in lame terms, makes the computer go faster.

Storage can be brought, like external hardware, we looked at them in amazon.com for $70.

If you don't have enough storage, you cannot save things to your computer.

Memory is RAM, 16g to 32G goes back to the picture of replacing the memory.

NFC

- near field communication. 4 centimeters or less. example, car key close to the car and opens, it uses NFC technology.

-laptop can use face recognition or fingerprint

-when setting up a phone, one can have the old phone next to the old one and transfer contacts. before it was done with a wire. now its done wirelessly because of the NFC technology. 

802.11 AC are the new routers. 802.11 is wifi speed. maybe 7 years ago it was 802.10. the new one (802.11 is the standard right now.)

You can buy an external antenna. (why?)

LTE is the little bars in your phone. 

5G is the antenna. its just the program or the package they put everything in. is slower communication. most of the cell phone tower, the satellites, when they send signals to the towers, it is done in 5g. right now its all about speed. 

hotspot 

I said about public wifi. It's not about security. Of course they offer you wifi so you can drink the coffee and stay. 

If you rely on hotspots all the time, you are paying for nothing. You might as well use your providers wifi. rely on their network.  

HOMEWORK: MAKE A CISCO PACKET TRACER ACCOUNT.

SSID is the name of your router.

IP ADDRESS- i need to learn the basics. think of it like a social security number. personal number that you don't want to share that with anybody. your tablet, computer, phone all have an IP address. that is how they are able to communicate. 

router gets an ip address and it gets 

We did an exercise:

terminal in mac and cmd in windows to get ip address.

VPN- hides your ip address. I think everyone should have one. if someone tries to hack into your computer, they will not see your real ip address. they will see your fake ip address.

Access point- is how you connect to the network. in homes, that is through a router. in companies there could be different access points. 

TEACHER NOW IS SHOWING HOW HE GOT THE IP ADDRESS ON A WINDOWS COMPUTER COMMAND PROMPT. ITS LISTED. LET ME CHECK MINE ON THIS APPLE COMPUTER. 

IP address is based on location. so you can use your laptop in your house, it will be a certain ip address. when you go somewhere else, it has a different ip address.  SO THIS IS WHERE IP ADDRESS COME FROM.

They are very important because that is how people connect to the internet. The first set of numbers, example 192 in the ip address. it not a random number. IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT NUMBER. 

IPV4- anyone ever heard of this? ip address is a decimal number. We don't speak binary, we speak decimal. 

Binary number is set up different. In zeros and ones. MATRIX. HOW MANY SETS? 8

EXAMPLE: 1111111.010000000.1001011001.

These numbers they mean something. Whatever combination you want to give me here. these sets of numbers are called bits. bits = sets= octaves

32 notes. 32 is a bit. 4 sets of 8 is 32. that's why its 32 bit. sometimes it can be 64 bit as well.

bits- smallest measurement of data. Now its gigabite and terra bite. dial up internet like AOL days, 16 bites it was very slow.

Class: TCP Connection- hi i know who you are. but please log in with your credentials username and password to verify. an example of a tcp connection. bank account, email, netflix account. TCP means transmission control protocol. anything that requires a username and a password, that is a TCP connection.

Reliable delivery sometimes called.  TCP has an acknowledgement process so that both sides of the conversation was received properly. 

Protocol- a set of rules. its a language that only computers can understand. there are about 65,000 different protocols.

SMTP is the email protocol

FTP file transfer protocol. dropbox made it easy to transfer large files. now, its easey and fast. we can upload a video into instagram reels and it takes seconds now.

UDP- does not require authentication like if i send a youtube link anyone can click on the video and see it. 

TCP- is reliable authentication.
