Single Mom- How to travel full time
we travel full time. we didnt have a homebase.
until the pandemic, we moved to new orleans.
we've had international news coverage we've had.
how can we do that? what do we need to know?
FIRST OF ALL- HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU HAVE?
idk how much i would charge
i'm doing this podcast for free, so you are WELCOME.
top 5 that are the most important points.
you put your posessions somewhere. or maybe van life. or maybe
WE DID BACKPACKING.
If you are really serious, as the mom that has to be responsible for all this shit.
You have a great take as a child that has been through this shit.
IMAGINE YOURSELF AS THE CHILD. These tips will also help.
Question #1- HAVE YOU EVER TRAVELED WITH YOUR CHILD?
its not instagram, picture.
What we've done is very adventorous. It takes a lot more experience in travel.
if you had only done all inclusive resort. or just travel to see family members. that's now what we are doing.
what kind of travel have you and your kid done before?
helps if you have some travel experience, if you have been on a plane with your kid then you see how they respond to that.
MOM- we did plan but we were more spontaneous.
son- i used to travel to australia, because that's where my dad lives. we've done a bunch of domestic travel.
the level of travel we've done together. we didnt stay at fancy resort hotels. i didnt have a misconception of what travel actually is.
WE LIVED BY DISNEY LAND.
if I didnt do it before, i wouldnt have been interested in doing it long term.
mom-
son- i woudl say so, yes. travel is about having experience and you want to have a good experience with your child. before deciding hey i want to do this. see how they do with smaller things. trips help, see how i behave and deal with certain situations. some of that stuff really does help.
#2 HOW DOES YOUR CHILD HANDLE CHANGE, NEW ENVIRONMENT, STRESSFUL SITUATIONS?
the kind of backpacking we did. we didnt climb mount everest. some of it was outdoorsy, most of it was URBAN. we did africa, morocco. Kenya, more remote than places.
how are you? i was really observant with you. seeing how you handle stressful things.
Some kids have to have a favorite blankie. can they handle if there is a long flight delay? freak out if there is a different language?
son- every kid has as specific need that they have. you know. i would say for those kids that maybe it isnt for them. but every kid is different. I'M AN ADVENTEROUS SOUL.
mom- observe how your child handles new experience,
son- how they handle tough things, things in our daily life. MY SON IS GREAT AT ALL OF THESE.
if they have a rough time, maybe not a good idea to throw them into full time travel.
mom- trains were missed, things got lost. so much was amazing, other things didnt go as we planned.
credit to you, you didnt have a meltdown. only when someone got traded off the clippers.
CONSIDER AGE. I FELT LIKE 10 WAS A SWEET SPOT.
son- kids that are super young, younger kids are more fussy.
# PICKY EATERS AND ALLERGIES
food is a big part of travel.
son- i used to be a picky eater.
mom- i dont think you were picky. you were adventorous with food. you dont have any food allegies.
you grandmother had a bakery that catered to people with allergies. we are sensitive to that.
